O*NET 18.0

The Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network (O*NET) Database has undergone a number of revisions since it s introduction in October 1998.  For a history of the database updates, visit the O*NET Center's production database page .  Version 18.0 was released as a development database in July 2013 and went into production status in O*NET Online and other online applications in the September of 2013.

  • Released: July 2013
  • Updates
    • Comprehensive (Task Statement Ratings, Abilities, Skills, Work Activities, Knowledge, Work Context, Training and Work Experience, Education and Work Styles) update of 105 occupations
    • Addition and update of Interests data for 83 occupations
  • NOTE:  Database contents and related documentation were updated on 1/10/14 to reflect a table name change from ABILITY to ABILITIES introduced in Version 9.0 of the O*NET Database.  Changes were made to the FoxPro version of the database.
  • Structure Changes:  
    • None

O*NET Online Content Updated
: The National O*NET Center has moved Version 19.0 into production in O*NET Online and other web applications.

Military Crosswalk Revised:  The Defense Manpower Data Center has released a quarterly update to the file that links military occupations to those from the SOC and O*NET classifications.  Files are available for downloading from the NCSC's FTP server.  A Workforce Information Database version is also available.

NCSC Annual Report Published:  The National Crosswalk Service Center has published their annual activity report for the year ending June 30, 2014.

O*NET Database, Emerging Tasks updated:  The National O*NET Center has released Version 19.0 of their O*NET Database as a development release.  This version will go into production in O*NET Online and other online applications in the fall. The NCSC has several versions of the O*NET 19.0 and O*NET Supplemental Filess files available for downloading.

The NCSC has further defined the characteristics of comma-delimited text files it distributes.
