Workforce Information Database

The National Crosswalk Service Center (NCSC) delivers a variety of services in support of the Analyst Resource Center for Workforce Information (ARC) and state Workforce Information Database administrators. Included among those services are the over 4,500 files developed in support of the Department of Labor's Workforce Information Database project. We also have a whatsnew.txt file with information about updates to Workforce Information Database files. For more information about the ARC, visit their home page. Some highlights of Workforce Information Database products and services from the NCSC:

  • Non-standard Workforce Information Tables -- The ARC and the NCSC have developed a number of database that contain information that is not a part of the Workforce Information Database but can be used with the database or to enhance the database by including information from classification or data source revisions. Visit our Non-standard Workforce Information Tables page for a listing and more information.
  • Data Sources Document -- The Labor Market Information Bureau of Iowa Workforce Development has prepared a document containing suggested sources of content for many of the Workforce Information Database data tables. We have both MS Word Get MS Word Viewer and HTML versions of this document available for downloading/viewing.
Triggers. Triggers are used to automate the maintenance of selected administrative tables that are dependent on the content of other tables. The ARC has developed sets of triggers for use with both Oracle and MS SQL Server databases. The following files relate to the use of triggers in the Workforce Information Database:
  • Addendum Get ZIP file utility to Version 2.2
  • Complete release package including database structure and trigger documents.
  • Extract from the database documentation that describes the use of triggers.
  • Text file containing triggers for use with Oracle.
  • Text file containing triggers for use with MS SQL Server.

The NCSC has added an update calendar for many of the national, state and county data tables distributed by the center. In addition, the calendar contains links to the sources of the data.

The center also supports state efforts to collect information about licensed occupations for inclusion in America's Career Information Network. For more information about about the tools available to state database administrators, visit our licensing page.
